Therma-Chem welcomes EGAT Delegation to Scotland
We recently had the honour of hosting a 30-person delegation from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) — a visit that underscored the company’s growing global footprint and commitment to helping the energy sector achieve its ambitious net zero goals.
Under the leadership of Ron Semple, Therma-Chem has spent over forty years developing solutions that keep industrial boilers running efficiently, save millions in operational costs, and dramatically cut carbon emissions — all without requiring costly shutdowns. Ron, alongside his three sons David, Andrew, Steven, his partner Robert Moffatt, Robert’s son Robert, and son-in-law Gerry, continues to build on the company’s long-standing reputation for technical excellence and innovation.
“The energy sector can’t afford to think small anymore, and neither can we. At Therma-Chem, we’ve spent forty years proving that Scottish innovation can keep the world’s boilers running, cut carbon emissions, and save our clients millions without a single shutdown. If the global industry is serious about really achieving net zero, it needs bold solutions like ours.”
— Ron Semple, Managing Director, Therma-Chem
Showcasing Scottish Innovation
The EGAT officials and engineers toured Proficio, Therma-Chem’s trusted manufacturing partner led by Ron’s son Mark and his wife Nicola. Proficio specialises in the production of FS-12, Therma-Chem’s flagship chemical that prevents slagging and fouling in industrial boilers. The Livingston site — home to bespoke chemical manufacturing and advanced metal processing equipment — gave the visitors a first-hand look at how FS-12 is produced and stored before it reaches clients across the world.
By streamlining operations and limiting environmental impact, Proficio has strengthened Therma-Chem’s ability to deliver reliable, sustainable solutions to its customers.
An International Exchange
The visit offered an opportunity for technical discussion, knowledge-sharing, and a glimpse into the processes that have made FS-12 a trusted solution for utilities worldwide. For EGAT, the insights gained will support their ongoing efforts to maximise efficiency, reduce maintenance downtime, and meet Thailand’s net zero commitments.
A Scottish Finale
The delegation’s time in Scotland concluded in style with a reception at The Glasshouse in Edinburgh. Guests were treated to a true taste of Scottish culture, including fine whiskies and a performance by Louise Marshall, piper to the Lord Provost of Edinburgh.
